Quality & Product Assurance Engineer (Mechanical)

This role will drive management of change and deployment of Product Quality Planning for parts/suppliers within the Organization; as well as with GE Aerospace Suppliers to ensure on-time supply of production engine components, at cost and rate, that conform to General Electric Aerospace Manufacturing and Quality requirements. The focus for this role will be Forging, Materials, and Non-Destructive Evaluation and Testing (NDE) supply chain and sub-tier suppliers that process product for GE Aerospace’s rotating parts, structures, and combustors value streams.

The Supplier Advance Quality Engineer will lead Standardization of tools and processes to be followed throughout the business and will work closely with other functions such as Engineering, Commercial, and Services to develop the strategy and effectively implement the new Aerospace standard and ensures that the assigned suppliers continually develop their Management of Change process in line with the design intent of the customer and verify their systems to ensure they are compliant with the end customer’s needs.

Roles and Responsibilities

  1. Manage/supervise NPI sub team with all related new program activities therein by meeting the needs of our customers, both internally and externally by supporting continuous improvement in APQP concepts.
  2. Work developing procedures, regulations, and work instructions that support APQP and AS9145 / AS13100 requirements.
  3. Accountable for overall Supplier Management of Change as defined by established processes, policies, and tools for an assigned portfolio of hardware, programs, and/or suppliers.
  4. Support new product launches to ensure that supplier quality meets the required standards. Be a mentor/coach for various projects with several part families and/or different Engine Programs.
  5. Lead/Develop roadmaps that lead to successful integration of Management of change Product Quality Planning into existing policies and procedures.
  6. Responsible for the maintenance and communication of Source Change and/or NPI plan execution to partner pillars within the Supplier Performance & Execution, respective Commodity teams, and customer program focal points. Inform the respective Commodity on progress and lessons learned to inform future strategy for supplier, part family, etc.
  7. Collaborate with various leaders in different functions to understand the best approach to implementing changes within NPI and Product Management.
  8. Train and coach individuals and teams on various elements within Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) such as FMEAs, Gage R&Rs, Control Plans, etc.
  9. Collaborate with various leaders in different functions to develop and implement a review process for ensuring rigor and quality of completed deliverables.
  10. Generate executive summaries that clearly indicate status, business impact, and significant issues related to NPI projects. Work with cross-functional teams from Internal Shops as well as External Suppliers to coach/mentor all deliverables of APQP.
  11. Includes both Supplier Quality Assurance and Supplier Quality Development. Includes supplier qualifications, action plans, audits, and assisting key suppliers towards industrial standards of excellence.
  12. A job at this level is likely to be an individual contributor, with proven interpersonal skills. Communication with direct colleagues and the business about design and coordination services rendered. Provides informal guidance to new team members. Explains complex information to others in straightforward situations.
  13. The role operates with some autonomy but is focused on execution of activities/provision of advice within an enabling discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures. Activities require professional judgment but may require more senior levels of guidance.
  14. Provide concise, complete, and accurate documentation of inspection results relative to the area of responsibility. In appropriate functional areas, this refers to supporting inspection and test status requirements defined by regulations, engineering product specifications, or Control Plans, Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) approval.

Required Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (a high school diploma / GED with at least 10 years of experience in manufacturing in automotive/aerospace experience) a minimum of 5 years of manufacturing in automotive or aerospace experience. Strong skills in APQP experience.
  2. Knowledge of manufacturing and production processes.
  3. Knowledge of government compliance and quality control regulatory standards.

The base pay range for this position is $108,400-180,700. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of your base salary/ commission based on the plan. This posting is expected to close on March 9, 2025.
