Job summary

Mercy is seeking an Advanced Sonographer to operate ultrasound imaging equipment and assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. You will ensure imaging quality, patient safety, and adherence to standards while serving as a lead when supervision is unavailable.

You will coordinate with healthcare teams, train staff, communicate effectively with patients, and adapt to changing priorities in a busy environment.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a school of Sonography with clinical hours
• 2 years of relevant experience
• State licensure may be required depending on the state
• ARDMS/ARRT/CCI certifications and 3 registries OR 2 registries and 5 years experience; BLS

The Advanced Sonographer operates imaging equipment and software proficiently, mostly ultrasound equipment, to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. This role requires proficiency and thorough understanding of operating imaging equipment and procedures while ensuring patient safety and maintaining imaging standards. Responsibilities also include serving as lead when direct leadership is unavailable, serving as an expert resource, and assisting in training. Effective communication with patients and healthcare professionals is essential for providing optimal care.

Position Details:

Minimum Requirements:

• Education: Graduate of a school of Sonography and completed required clinical hours
• Experience: 2 years of relevant experience
• License: State licensure may be required depending on the specific state of practice.
• Certifications/Registries: ARDMS/ARRT/CCI and 3 applicable advanced registries/certifications within the applicable work area OR 2 applicable advanced registries/certifications within the applicable work area and 5 years of applicable experience; Basic Life Support (BLS)
• In the state of Arkansas, ARDMS‑RVT OR CCI‑RVS OR ARRT‑VS may be required within 12 months of hire and/or transfer depending on scope of role.

• Knowledge of advanced procedures and/or invasive procedures, if applicable

• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
• Flexibility to handle multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
• Knowledge of quality assurance protocols and accreditation standards.

Physical Requirements:

• Position requires the ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
• Position requires prolonged standing and walking during each shift.
• Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
