We are seeking an Advanced Roadway Design Engineer for our Transportation team in North Carolina or Ohio.

Annual Compensation: $110,000-155,000, depending on experience, certifications, and regional market standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform roadway design tasks from preliminary to final stages.
• Develop specifications, cost estimates, and bid packages.
• Establish and maintain relationships with clients, including NCDOT, local governments, and private clients.
• Provide design services for traditional and design-build projects.
• Mentor junior engineers in design plans, including cross sections, traffic control, drainage, signing, and pavement markings.
• Coordinate activities among design staff, subcontractors, and clients.
• Participate in technical decision-making, scheduling, and cost management.
• Identify and address schedule and budget variances.
• Contribute to team projects within schedule and budget constraints.
• Engage in leadership roles within transportation organizations such as ASHE, ASCE, DBIA.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Essential Credentials:

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
• P.E. license required; North Carolina PE preferred, with expectation to obtain within the first year.

Additional Qualifications:

• 10-20+ years of progressive transportation and roadway design experience.
• At least 5 years of project management experience preferred.
• Experience with DOT projects required; experience with multiple DOTs is a plus.
• Proficiency with MicroStation, Geopak, OpenRoads Designer preferred.
