AdventHealth in Florida is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to deliver comprehensive respiratory care, including ventilator management and blood gas analysis, within a high-acuity setting. The role supports interdisciplinary rounds, quality control, and cost-conscious care, ensuring patient safety and positive outcomes.

A NBRC credential and BLS/NRP are required, with significant opportunities for clinical instruction and leadership.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of critical care experience (Required).
• 3+ years Respiratory Care experience (Required).
• NBRC credential must be maintained as a condition of continued eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Provide respiratory care to patients, including aerosolized meds, oxygen, and ventilation.
• Draw, analyze, and report blood gas results.
• Respond to rapid responses and code blues; perform CPR as needed.
• Manage ventilators (invasive and non-invasive) and document changes.
• Assist with bronchoscopy and capnography; perform respiratory therapies per orders.
• Participate in rounds to impact length of stay and readmission rates.
• Assist with clinical instruction and act as shift lead when needed.
• Comply with lab regulatory requirements and quality control.

Job Description

Up to 20K Sign on Bonus Up to 10K Relocation

• Provides respiratory care to patients, including aerosolized medication, oxygen therapy, and ventilation.
• Draws, analyzes, and reports blood gas results.
• Responds to rapid response and code blue situations, performing CPR as needed.
• Manages ventilators, both invasive and non-invasive, and documents changes.
• Assists with bedside bronchoscopy and manages non-invasive Bi-level and end-tidal CO2 capnography.
• Performs respiratory therapy treatments and procedures per physician orders and department protocols.
• Participates in interdisciplinary rounds, providing input on patient care to impact length of stay and re-admission rates.
• Assists with clinical instruction, precepts, and serves as a resource for lower-level therapists.
• Reviews workload, makes staff assignments, and ensures completion of tasks when acting as shift lead.
• Follows regulatory requirements for the blood gas lab, including quality control and analyzer maintenance.
• Identifies and implements cost-control methods while maintaining patient care quality.
• Completes and documents ECGs and ensures all errors and inefficiencies are reported to management.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education

Technical/Vocational School [Required] Field of Study: In respiratory therapy program prior to obtaining license or grandfathered in prior to licensure

Work Experience

1+ years critical care experience [Required] 3+ years Respiratory Care experience [Required]
