Job summary

AdventHealth in Tampa, FL seeks a Respiratory Therapist to provide bedside care including ventilator management, blood gas analysis, and biliary support as part of a multidisciplinary team.

The role requires 1+ year in critical care and 3+ years in respiratory care, with an active RRT or NBRC credentialing. Night shifts with a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for professional growth are offered.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of critical care experience required.
• 3+ years respiratory care experience required.
• State Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) required or NBRC credentialed (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Provide respiratory care to patients including aerosolized meds, oxygen therapy, and ventilation.
• Draw, analyze, and report blood gas results.
• Respond to rapid response and code blue, assist CPR as needed.
• Manage ventilators (invasive and non-invasive) and document changes.
• Assist with bronchoscopy and capnography; perform respiratory therapy procedures per orders.
• Participate in rounds and contribute to patient care decisions.
• Assist with clinical instruction and act as shift lead when needed.
• Maintain lab quality controls and regulatory compliance for blood gas analysis.
• Identify cost-control opportunities while maintaining patient care quality.
• Complete ECGs and report errors or inefficiencies to management.

Schedule: Full Time Variable schedule, every 2nd-3rd weekend, 630p-7a Location: Carrollwood, FL

Job Description:

• Provides respiratory care to patients, including aerosolized medication, oxygen therapy, and ventilation.
• Draws, analyzes, and reports blood gas results.
• Responds to rapid response and code blue situations, performing CPR as needed.
• Manages ventilators, both invasive and non-invasive, and documents changes.
• Assists with bedside bronchoscopy and manages non-invasive Bi-level and end-tidal CO2 capnography.
• Performs respiratory therapy treatments and procedures per physician orders and department protocols.
• Participates in interdisciplinary rounds, providing input on patient care to impact length of stay and re-admission rates.
• Assists with clinical instruction, precepts, and serves as a resource for lower-level therapists.
• Reviews workload, makes staff assignments, and ensures completion of tasks when acting as shift lead.
• Follows regulatory requirements for the blood gas lab, including quality control and analyzer maintenance.
• Identifies and implements cost-control methods while maintaining patient care quality.
• Completes and documents ECGs and ensures all errors and inefficiencies are reported to management.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education:

Technical/Vocational School [Required] Field of Study: In respiratory therapy program prior to obtaining license or grandfathered in prior to licensure

Work Experience:

• 1+ years critical care experience [Required]
• 3+ years Respiratory Care experience [Required]

Licenses and Certifications:

• State Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) [Required]
• Active NBRC Credentialed Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) [Preferred]
• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) [Required]
