Job summary

AdventHealth in Palm Coast, FL is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to assess, treat, and educate patients using advanced respiratory therapies. You will assist in bronchoscopy procedures, manage ventilators, and ensure accurate documentation and high-quality care.

Required are an Associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy or Cardiopulmonary Science and 1+ year of acute care experience, with RRT and CPR/BLS credentials. ACLS preferred; Vents and non-invasive modalities experience highly valued.

Qualifications

  • ABG puncture and analysis required.
  • CPR and airway management skills required.
  • Ventilator management experience required.
  • Bronchoscopy assistance and safety protocols expected.
  • Non-invasive and invasive ventilation applications familiar.
  • Infection control knowledge and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform respiratory therapies and oxygen delivery per protocol.
  • Assist physicians with bronchoscopy procedures and equipment setup.
  • Document procedures and charges accurately for quality standards.
  • Educate patients on therapy modalities and benefits.
  • Respond to Code Blue emergencies per AHA guidelines.
  • Maintain ventilation and airway equipment and safety practices.

Job Description
  • Utilizes patient assessment skills, protocols, and chart reviews to determine therapy efficacy and makes appropriate recommendations.
  • Assists physicians with diagnostic and therapeutic bronchoscopy procedures, including equipment setup and maintenance.
  • Documents and charges for procedures accurately and thoroughly to meet quality standards.
  • Provides effective patient education on therapy modalities to ensure understanding of care benefits.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of infection control, safe body mechanics, and applicable regulations and standards.
  • Proactively initiates process improvement ideas and assists with clinical instruction and staff precepting.
  • Performs respiratory therapies and oxygen delivery therapies, making recommendations for the most efficient delivery method per protocol.
  • Initiates, maintains, transports, and monitors mechanical ventilators, including conventional and non-conventional modes of ventilation.
  • Performs airway maintenance tasks such as manual resuscitators, airway insertion, suctioning, extubation, and tracheostomy procedures.
  • Responds immediately to Code Blue emergencies, providing CPR according to the American Heart Association guidelines.
  • Obtains, analyzes, and reports arterial blood gases and co-oximetry findings, performing quality controls as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Advanced Conventional & Non-Conventional Ventilator Management [Required]
  • Utilize and adapt to State of the Art Technology, Computer Systems and Applications [Required]
  • Effective Oral and Written Communication [Required]
  • Esophageal balloon manometry [Required]
  • Ventilator waveform interpretation skills [Required]
  • Application of inhaled Nitric Oxide gas and pulmonary vasodilator medications [Required]

Education
