Job summary

Molex, a Koch company, is seeking an AQP Engineer in the Naperville area to lead quality activities for new products and modifications. You will drive front-end design reviews, establish measurement plans, and perform analyses to ensure flawless launches that meet customer requirements for quality, delivery, and cost.

Ideal candidates have 5–8 years in quality engineering with strong statistics experience, metrology knowledge, and DFMEA/PFMEA training.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field is required.
  • 5-8 years of experience in Quality Engineering or related engineering field.
  • 5-8 years knowledge of statistics with experience using Minitab or other software.
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of metrology and GD&T.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (5-10%).
  • Training in DOE, Advanced Quality Planning tools including DFMEA/PFMEA, control plans and reliability test plans.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures the project Quality Plan for new products and modifications is focused on the voice of the customer and all project quality deliverables are completed on time.
  • Facilitates front-end product/tool/assembly design, conducts process flow reviews, design & process FMEA, and provides input on quality history and lessons learned.
  • Leads measurement plans, gauges, inspection fixtures, MSA, capability studies, and statistical analysis for tool/process qualification.
  • Performs Safe Launch exercises and audits to qualify new production processes and ensure compliance with control plans.
  • Supports operator training and guidance with process engineering and operations.
  • Ensures documentation related to customer acceptance of new products and modifications is completed.

Job description

The AQP Engineer works closely with the cross functional Product Development Team members (Product Design, Development Process, Process, and other internal stakeholders) facilitating the use of the AQP tools to manage and mitigate project risk ensuring a flawless product launch that meets our customers Quality, Delivery, and Cost requirements.

What You Will Do
  • Ensures the project Quality Plan for new products and product modifications are focused on the voice of customer and all project quality deliverables are completed in a timely manner.
  • Facilitation during front-end product / tool / assembly design. Conducts process flow reviews, design & process FMEA while providing inputs on internal and external quality history, lessons learned while using active & critical thinking / questioning. Reviews and approves reliability test plan. Works with process engineering team/operations to develop control plans.
  • Collaborates with the plant Quality Team/QE for the development of measurement plans / methods and leads the disposition of new products at FOT (First Off Tool) and Qualification. Ownership of necessary gauges & inspection fixtures. Performs Measurement System Analysis, Capability Studies & any necessary statistical analysis with goal of Tool / Process Qualification.
  • Works with Manufacturing AQP or QE to conduct Safe Launch exercise. Performs process and product Quality audits to qualify new production processes, and to ensure compliance to documented control plans for new products.
  • Works with Process Engineering and Operations to assist in Operator training and guidance.
  • Ensures customer required documentation relating to customer acceptance of new products and product modifications are completed.
  • Reviews and approves supplier product specific documentation on new and modified purchased components. Works with procurement and supplier quality engineer to ensure compliance.
  • Leads in the problem solving (8D’s), analysis, and resolution of new product related customer complaints or internal quality complaints during launch. Supports efforts for prevention of repeat issues & systemic improvements to the Product Development Processes to reduce New Products QNs.
  • Understands & practices the Principle Based Management guiding principles, Lean / Six Sigma, International Standards Organization (ISO) and Environmental, and/or Health and Safety (EH&S) Management Systems by following stated policies and procedures.
  • Leads continuous improvement projects/plans to reduce scrap, improve throughput, and improve our methods and systems.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • BS Degree in Engineering or other related field
  • Minimum 5-8 years experience in Quality Engineering or related engineering field
  • Minimum 5-8 years knowledge of statistics - experience using Minitab or other software
  • Solid knowledge & understanding of metrology and GD&T
  • Ability to travel (domestic and international) 5% - 10%
  • Training in DOE, Advance Quality Planning Tools including but not limited to DFMEA/PFMEA, Control plan, reliability test plans
What Will Put You Ahead
  • 5-8 years experience in Quality engineering in a new-product introduction environment
  • 5-8 years experience performing PFMEA/DFMEA and using other Advanced Quality Planning tools
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing, testing, molding, and assembly processes
  • Quality System knowledge (ISO 9001, ISO13485 or TS/IATF 16949) and Supplier Auditing experience, Gage and Fixture design

In order to comply with U.S. export control laws and regulations, this position requires applicants to either provide proof of U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent resident status or be eligible to receive an export authorization (a license) under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations and/or the Export Administration Regulations. For this role, we anticipate paying $90,000 - $110,000 per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form. At Koch companies, we are entrepreneurs.
