Job summary

Molex, a global leader in connectivity solutions, is seeking an Advanced Quality Planning Engineer in Lincoln, NE. You will lead APQP activities, DFMEA/PFMEA, control plans, and reliability testing to ensure flawless new product launches.

The role requires collaboration with product development, manufacturing, and suppliers to meet ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 standards. You will drive quality documentation, PPAP submissions, MSAs, and 8D problem solving, while supporting Safe Launch and supplier

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or 4+ years of quality engineering in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum 1 year of Quality Engineering experience in an automotive, manufacturing, or industrial environment.
  • Experience supporting Quality Management Systems (QMS) and NPI activities.
  • Experience using quality planning and measurement tools, including PFMEA, Control Plans, PPAP, MSA, capability studies, and statistical analysis software (e.g., Minitab).
  • Experience applying GD&T, metrology, customer-specific requirements, and structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 8D, RCA, CAPA).

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage the Project Quality Plan for new products and modifications, ensuring alignment with the Voice of the Customer and timely completion of all quality deliverables.
  • Review, update, and create essential quality documentation, including PFMEA, control plans, and inspection plans.
  • Lead problem-solving efforts using the 8D methodology to analyze and resolve new product customer complaints and internal quality issues during product launch.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to prevent the recurrence of quality issues and drive systemic improvements in Product Development processes.
  • Partner with Manufacturing Quality Engineering to develop and conduct Safe Launch plans and perform process and product audits.
  • Work with Product Development Teams to support sample submission, prototype, and initial launch parts delivery on time.
  • Review and approve supplier product documentation for new and modified components.
  • Oversee PPAP documentation review and timely submission to customers; facilitate development of measurement plans and lead product disposition at FOT and Qualification stages.
  • Conduct Measurement System Analysis (MSA), capability studies, and statistical analyses.

What You Will Do

  • Work with Product Development Teams (Design engineers, process / tooling engineers, project managers, product managers, and prototype / plant operators) to support sample submission, prototype, and initial launch parts delivery on time.
  • Review and approve supplier product documentation for new and modified components
  • Oversee PPAP documentation review and timely submission to customers; facilitate development of measurement plans and lead product disposition at First Off Tool (FOT) and Qualification stages, including ownership of gauges and inspection fixtures
  • Conduct Measurement System Analysis (MSA), capability studies, and statistical analyses
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering OR 4+ years of experience performing Quality Engineering responsibilities in a manufacturing environment
  • Minimum 1 year of Quality Engineering experience in an automotive, manufacturing, or industrial environment
  • Experience supporting Quality Management Systems (QMS) and product development or new product launch activities
  • Experience using quality planning and measurement tools, including PFMEA, Control Plans, PPAP, MSA, capability studies, and statistical analysis software (e.g., Minitab)
  • Experience applying GD&T, metrology, customer‑specific requirements, and structured problem‑solving methodologies (e.g., 8D, RCA, CAPA)
What Will Put You Ahead
  • Formal training in Design of Experiments (DOE), Advanced Quality Planning tools such as DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plans, Lean/Six Sigma methodologies, and reliability test planning
  • Proven experience performing and facilitating DFMEA/PFMEA and leveraging Advanced Quality Planning tools to improve product and process quality
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, including testing, molding, stamping, and assembly operations
  • Practical experience with Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001 or IATF 16949) and supplier auditing to ensure compliance and foster continuous improvement
