Job summary

Corning Incorporated, a world leader in glass and ceramics, is seeking an Advanced Process Controls Intern for Summer 2027 in Painted Post, NY. You will apply controls, optimization and data analytics to real manufacturing challenges, learning to develop, test and transfer model-based control solutions with guidance from senior engineers.

The internship offers exposure to processes and opportunities to work on model-based control, numerical optimization, and predictive maintenance with tools

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in a technical field with emphasis on controls, optimization, data analytics, ML or dynamic systems.
• Academic projects, internships, co-ops or research in relevant areas encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Support design, development, testing and documentation of process controls in manufacturing.
• Analyze process data and trends to improve stability, quality, throughput or efficiency.
• Assist with controls-oriented modeling, system identification, simulation and evaluation of control strategies.
• Contribute to model predictive control or other advanced-control concepts under guidance.
• Build prototype optimization or analytics models using MATLAB, Simulink, Python.
• Apply analytics or ML to monitoring, fault detection or predictive maintenance.
• Collaborate with process SMEs to translate needs into tasks and communicate findings.
• Prepare technical summaries, code, models and docs for stakeholders.
• Complete internship project with defined deliverables and present outcomes.
