Job summary

Rush University Medical Center invites applications for a Sleep Medicine Advanced Practice Provider (APP). This 100% outpatient role supports a multidisciplinary Sleep Medicine team, including four physicians and four APPs, with a focus on evaluation, PAP management, and longitudinal care.

The position requires Illinois NP or PA licensure, MSN/DNP or PA program completion, and current board certifications (ANCC/AANP or NCCPA).

Qualifications

  • Licensure as NP in Illinois; eligible to obtain licensure as APN.
  • MSN or DNP with clinical specialty relevant to Sleep Medicine.
  • PA program completion and state licensure eligibility in Illinois.
  • Board certification by ANCC/AANP for NP or NCCPA for PA.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and manage sleep disorders (OSA, insomnia, narcolepsy, RLS).
  • Adjust PAP therapy, dose titration, and other treatment plans.
  • Conduct outpatient follow-up visits and coordinate longitudinal care.
  • Collaborate with sleep physicians and multidisciplinary teams on complex cases.
  • Educate patients on diagnosis, treatment adherence, and lifestyle changes.
  • Support weight-loss–related sleep management and follow-up sleep studies.
  • Work five 8-hour days, Monday–Friday; 100% outpatient.
  • Report to the Division Administrator.

Rush University Medical Center, a nationally recognized clinical and academic institution and the teaching hospital for Rush Medical and Nursing Colleges, located in downtown Chicago, invites applications for the position of Sleep Medicine Advanced Practice Provider (APP).

Duties & Responsibilities


  • Evaluate and manage patients with sleep disorders (e.g., obstructive sleep apnea, insomnia, narcolepsy, restless legs syndrome).

  • Adjust PAP therapy, dose titration, and other treatment plans.

  • Conduct outpatient follow-up visits and coordinate longitudinal care.

  • Collaborate with sleep physicians and multidisciplinary teams on complex cases.

  • Educate patients on diagnosis, treatment adherence, and lifestyle modifications.

  • Help manage patient cohort related to weight-loss–linked sleep management, follow-ups, and repeat sleep studies

  • 5-day, 8-hour shift schedule, days only, Monday-Friday

  • Reports to the Division Administrator

  • 100% outpatient


Preferred Qualifications


  • Applicants with previous Advanced Practice Provider experience is preferred.


Position Requirements

Nurse Practitioner


  • Current licensure from the State of Illinois as a Registered Professional Nurse and Advanced Practice Nurse or eligible to obtain a licensure through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) application process

  • Master of Science in Nursing or Doctorate of Nursing practice with clinical specialty appropriate to position

  • Current certification by American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Academy of Nurse Practitioner (AANP)

  • CPR, ACLS, and PALS certifications


Physician Assistant


  • Current licensure from the State of Illinois as a Physician Assistant/Associate or eligible to obtain a licensure through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) application process

  • Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant/Associate Program

  • Current certification from National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants

  • CPR, ACLS, and PALS certifications


The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will promote collaboration between multiple disciplines to ensure cost effective and quality patient care. The individual who holds this position will exemplify the Rush mission, vision and values and act in accordance with the policies, procedures, guidelines of Rush, including the Rush Medical Group Customer Service standards. Successful candidates will also meet all other state and federal regulatory practice and accreditation standards.

Rush offers competitive total compensation that includes base pay, benefits, and other incentive programs for our employees. The total pay range shown reflects the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, specialty; relevant experience and training; and other business and organizational factors. This total pay range is for a full-time, 1.0 FTE employee, and includes any incentive payments that may be applicable to this role. Additional compensation may include premium pay rates, sign-on bonuses, and relocation allowances. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package.


Pay Range: $121,000 - $183,000
