Job summary

Prime Occupational Medicine seeks an Advanced Practice Provider to perform examinations, orders, and interpretations within an occupational medicine setting. The APP will function under supervision, either on-site or via telecommunications, and participate in multidisciplinary patient care.

Responsibilities include forming diagnoses, planning treatments, ordering labs and imaging, and providing patient education.

Qualifications

• Must hold an active APP license in the state of Texas.
• Advanced knowledge of occupational medicine is strongly preferred.
• Must be available for after-hours call coverage.
• Ability to plan patient care with clinical team and supervision.

Responsibilities

• Take pertinent histories and perform examinations for patient complaints and fitness for duty evaluations.
• Order and interpret routine labs (CBCs, chemistries, UA) and other necessary tests.
• Order and interpret radiological studies, PFTs and audiograms.
• Establish diagnoses and determine a plan of care and treatment.
• Refer patients for follow-up care when indicated.
• Deliver and document all aspects of patient care per Prime Occupational Medicine standards.
• Provide patient education and counseling relevant to presenting problems.
• Document discharge instructions and summaries.
• Perform other clinical services within NP scope of practice.
• Practice with supervision of an approved SP, on-site or via telecommunications.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Take pertinent histories and perform examinations relevant to patient complaint and presentation along with performing routine human resource functions such as physicals, return to work, and fitness for duty evaluations.
• Order and interpret results of routine laboratory tests, including CBCs, blood chemistries, UA and any other pertinent diagnostic labs deemed necessary for evaluation.
• Order and interpret routine radiological studies, pulmonary function tests and audiograms.
• Establish medical diagnoses and determine a plan of care and treatment.
• Refer patients for appropriate follow up care when indicated.
• Deliver and document all aspects of patient care according to standards set forth by Prime Occupational Medicine.
• Provide patient healthcare teaching and counseling relevant to presenting problems.
• Document discharge instructions and summarization.
• Other clinical services deemed to be appropriate for the services of the patients under the NP's care, within the NP's scope of practice.
• The APP will practice with the supervision of an approved SP, which involves either being on site or readily available via telecommunications.

Physical Demands

Standing and walking long distances for prolonged periods of time, lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects up to 75 pounds. Good vision. Kneel, bend, or work in awkward positions. Must be physically coordinated to perform required tasks to precision. Repetitive motion. Extensive use of computers and keyboard. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading. Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Must have the ability to lift patients, packages and other items, to walk and stand for long distances, and drive a vehicle.
