Job summary

Prime Occupational Medicine seeks a physician-assisted clinician to provide occupational health services in the Baytown area. You will perform histories and physicals, order tests, and manage care for workers' health in collaboration with a supervising physician.

The role requires strong decision-making, medical knowledge, and robust communication skills to deliver patient care with compassion while maintaining safety and compliance.

Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge of occupational medicine strongly preferred.
  • Must be available for after-hours call coverage.
  • Active APP license in the state of Texas is required.

Responsibilities

  • Take pertinent histories and perform examinations relevant to patient complaint and presentation along with performing HR functions such as physicals and fitness for duty evaluations.
  • Order and interpret routine laboratory results including CBCs, blood chemistries, UA and other diagnostics as needed.
  • Order and interpret routine radiological studies, pulmonary function tests and audiograms.
  • Establish medical diagnoses and determine a plan of care and treatment.
  • Refer patients for appropriate follow up care when indicated.
  • Deliver and document all aspects of patient care according to Prime Occupational Medicine standards.
  • Provide patient healthcare teaching and counseling relevant to presenting problems.
  • Document discharge instructions and summarization.
  • Other clinical services within NP scope of practice as appropriate.
  • The APP will practice with supervision of an approved SP, either on site or via telecommunications.

Job description

Responsibilities
  • Take pertinent histories and perform examinations relevant to patient complaint and presentation along with performing routine human resource functions such as physicals, return to work, and fitness for duty evaluations.
  • Order and interpret results of routine laboratory tests, including CBCs, blood chemistries, UA and any other pertinent diagnostic labs deemed necessary for evaluation.
  • Order and interpret routine radiological studies, pulmonary function tests and audiograms.
  • Establish medical diagnoses and determine a plan of care and treatment.
  • Refer patients for appropriate follow up care when indicated.
  • Deliver and document all aspects of patient care according to standards set forth by Prime Occupational Medicine.
  • Provide patient healthcare teaching and counseling relevant to presenting problems.
  • Document discharge instructions and summarization.
  • Other clinical services deemed to be appropriate for the services of the patients under the NP's care, within the NP's scope of practice.
  • The APP will practice with the supervision of an approved SP, which involves either being on site or readily available via telecommunications.

Physical Demands

Standing and walking long distances for prolonged periods of time, lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects up to 75 pounds. Good vision. Kneel, bend, or work in awkward positions. Must be physically coordinated to perform required tasks to precision. Repetitive motion. Extensive use of computers and keyboard. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading. Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Must have the ability to lift patients, packages and other items, to walk and stand for long distances, and drive a vehicle.
