Job summary

Minneapolis Clinic of Neurology is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our neurology team. The role emphasizes thorough histories, exams, diagnostic coordination, patient education, and clear documentation to support high-quality care, prognosis, and follow-up.

You will present cases to physicians concisely and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive neurologic services.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree from an accredited NP/PA program and current NP/PA licensure.
  • Certification and licensure as Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant required.
  • Experience in general neurology or internal medicine preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs and/or updates thorough histories.
  • Performs and/or updates thorough physical exam.
  • Order/coordinate neurodiagnostic testing.
  • Triages patient phone calls: discusses test results and follow up with patients.
  • Presents patient to physician in concise, complete, and thorough manner.
  • Documents in a timely manner patient visits and notes in a standard format, emphasizing completeness, thoroughness and reflected formulation of diagnosis, treatment, prognosis, patient education and follow-up.
  • Provides patient/family education and follow up.
  • Organizes relevant educational materials from available sources and generates materials for patients/families.
  • Presents and reviews materials with patients in a timely, concerned, thorough, understandable, and empathetic manner.
  • Follow-ups with patients and their families to assure understanding and retention of material. Provide supplementary materials, as necessary.
  • Facilitates family conferences.
  • Other duties may be assigned, such as inpatient evaluation or other program development.

  • Performs and/or updates thorough histories.

  • Triages patient phone calls: discusses test results and follow up with patients.

Provides patient care and (new and recheck visits) and maintains patient documentation.


  • Performs and/or updates thorough histories.

  • Performs and/or updates thorough physical exam.

  • Order/coordinate neurodiagnostic testing.

  • Triages patient phone calls: discusses test results and follow up with patients.

  • Presents patient to physician in concise, complete, and thorough manner.

  • Documents in a timely manner patient visits and notes in a standard format, emphasizing completeness, thoroughness and reflected formulation of diagnosis, treatment, prognosis, patient education and follow-up.


Provides patient/family education and follow up.

Requirements


Education and Experience:


  • Master’s degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.

  • Certification and licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.

  • Prefer experience in general neurology or internal medicine.

  • Ability and desire to be self-directed in performance of duties and self-educating in areas of deficiency, without need for continuous direct supervision.

  • Ability to analyze clinical situations, draw appropriate conclusions and institute appropriate measures with good reasoning and problem-solving abilities, and acute intellect.

  • Ability to work in a stressful environment without impairment of functions or judgment.

  • Physical ability to assist patients through an examination.

  • Patient centered, strong customer service orientation.

  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines and troubleshoot and resolve problems.

  • Ability to work independently, exhibit mature judgment and make sound decisions.

  • Ability to handle confidential information with the utmost judgment and discretion.

  • Proficiency with MS Office and electronic health record.
