Job summary

Virginia Mason Franciscan Health in Silverdale, WA is seeking an orthopedic surgery advanced practitioner to join a collegial team of board certified providers. You will assist in the surgical suite including first assist, wound closure, and the use of internal devices under the supervision of the orthopedic surgeon.

The role includes pre- and post-operative clinic work, performing histories and physical exams, ordering labs and imaging, and hospital rounds.

Qualifications

• One-year experience as an ARNP or Physician Assistant (Required).
• Surgical experience as an APP preferred.
• Washington State license in good standing.
• Board certification.
• DEA, NPI & prescriptive authority.
• Current BLS for Healthcare Providers (American Heart Association).

Responsibilities

• Assist in the surgical suite, including first assist and wound closure; apply internal devices as directed by the orthopedic surgeon.
• Perform pre-operative and post-operative care in clinics.
• Conduct histories and physical examinations; interpret labs and diagnostic tests.
• Formulate and adjust treatment plans for orthopedic conditions; determine need for consultation or referral.
• Order and review labs and imaging (EMG, EKG, radiologic studies).
• Perform diagnostic/therapeutic procedures (aspirations, injections).
• Apply braces, casts, splints, and other orthopedic devices.
• Conduct hospital rounds, write orders, and cover ED visits for the orthopedic surgeon.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As your orthopedic surgery advanced practitioner in Silverdale, WA you will be joining a collegial team comprised of supportive, board certified providers.

Everyday, you will assist in the surgical suite including first assist, deep and superficial wound closure, application of internal devices and any other procedures delegated by the supervising orthopedic surgeon.

To be successful in this role you will

• Perform pre-operative and post-operative care in clinics
• Perform comprehensive and problem-focused histories and physical examinations
• Interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests in clinics
• Formulate a treatment plan for orthopedic conditions within their scope of practice
• Exercise judgment on conditions requiring consultation, referral or evaluation by the supervising orthopedic surgeon or other health care professionals
• Order, collect and perform appropriate laboratory and diagnostic studies, such as routine laboratory tests, EMG, electrocardiogram and radiologic examinations including arthrogram, ultrasound, CT, MRI and bone scan studies
• Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as aspirations and injections of joints, bursars and cysts.
• Apply braces, casts, splints and other orthopedic appliances
• Conduct hospital rounds, writes orders, takes call and sees patients in the ED for the orthopedic surgeon if needed

Average schedule is Monday-Friday consisting of OR (surgery) with some clinic/hospital work, with the opportunity for scheduling flexibilty. Candidates should be available for occasional weekend cases if needed.

Job Requirements

Required Experience:

• At least one-year experience required as an ARNP or Physician Assistant
