Job Description Summary

MUSC Community Physicians is seeking a dedicated Advanced Practitioner (NP or PA) Psychiatric Hospitalist to provide high-quality, compassionate care to patients at the Leatherman Behavioral Health Pavilion. The NP/PA will work collaboratively with psychiatrists, medical staff, and interdisciplinary teams to manage psychiatric patient acute and chronic medical conditions, ensuring holistic and integrated care. The NP/PA will also work as a Hospitalist within the Pee Dee Division in a medical center on a rotational basis.

Job Responsibilities

• Takes comprehensive history and performs physical examinations
• Manage acute and chronic medical illnesses in medical/surgical and psychiatric patients
• Collaborate with psychiatrists to develop and implement treatment plans that address medical and psychiatric needs
• Evaluate and treat patients based on history and physical examination, radiological, laboratory, and other diagnostic test results
• Initiate referrals and consult with attending or collaborating physicians
• Document and bill for direct care provided
• Utilize current research and evidence-based decision-making
• Participate in quality/performance improvement activities and clinical research
• Support accreditation, compliance, and regulatory activities
• Maintain professional development through participation in organizations and continuing education

Qualifications

Required Minimum Training:

• Physician Assistant (PA): Completion of an accredited PA program and licensure or eligibility in SC
• or
• APRN: FNP (Family NP) with experience managing stable chronic diseases across the lifespan

Required Experience: At least 6 months of hospital medicine experience

Preferred Training and Experience:

• PA: Completion of an accredited PA program and licensure in SC
• or
• APRN: AGACNP/ACNP with experience in adult acute care, ICU, or psychiatric care, minimum 1 year

Licensure and Certifications

• Current or eligible licensure in SC as PA or APRN
• Certification in BLS, ACLS, PALS (must be current or obtained by start date)
• DHEC and DEA licenses must be submitted prior to employment

Additional Information

Physical requirements include standing, walking, sitting, lifting up to 50 lbs, and visual acuity. The role offers a 7AM-7PM schedule, 7 days on, 7 days off. The patient population is inpatient, ages 12 and up. MUSC is an Equal Opportunity Employer and participates in E-Verify.
