Job summary

Kalkaska Medical Associates is seeking a compassionate and motivated Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join our growing outpatient Neurology Specialty Clinic. The APP will work collaboratively with neurologists, nursing staff, and allied health professionals to provide comprehensive care for patients with a variety of neurological conditions.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
• Current Michigan licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
• Current DEA registration or eligibility to obtain.
• Certification through an accredited national certifying body.
• Current BLS certification.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and patient-centered care skills.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with neurological conditions in an outpatient setting.
• Obtain comprehensive patient histories and perform focused neurological examinations.
• Order, interpret, and follow up on laboratory studies, imaging, and diagnostic tests.
• Develop and implement evidence-based treatment and management plans.
• Monitor and adjust medications and therapies as clinically indicated.
• Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and disease management.
• Collaborate with neurologists and interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated care.
• Document patient encounters accurately and timely in the electronic medical record.
• Coordinate referrals, consultations, and follow-up care.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and support clinic performance goals.

• Prior experience in neurology, internal medicine, family medicine, or another specialty outpatient practice.
• Experience managing patients with chronic and complex medical conditions.
• Familiarity with Oracle Health (Cerner) or other electronic medical record systems.
