**Advanced Practice Provider: I Hospitalist (Nights)**

PRIMARY PURPOSE

Responsible for providing healthcare for patients in designated primary or specialty areas, including diagnoses, treatment, education, and referrals. Serves as a resource and role model for clinical practice, training, evaluation, and management of practitioners and students to ensure optimal patient care. Assist leadership in assessing, planning, organizing, and implementing designated advanced practice provider activities.

Minimum Specifications

Education

• Physician Assistant: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university and successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant Program recognized by ARC-PA.
• Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN): Master's degree in nursing accredited through CCNE or ACEN.

Experience: None

Equivalent Education and/or Experience

• Current employees hired at Parkland before 3/1/2014 may have equivalent education and experience.

Certification/Registration/Licensure

• Must have current healthcare provider BLS certification from AHA, Red Cross, or Military Training Network.
• Physician Assistant: Current, valid licensure from the Texas Board and certification by NCCPA.
• APRN (Nurse Practitioner): Current RN licensure from Texas or a valid Compact license, with active certification as a Family, Adult, Gerontology, or Women's Health Nurse Practitioner by ANCC or AANPCP.
• APRN (Certified Nurse Midwife): Current RN licensure and licensure as an APRN with certification as a CNM by AMCB.
• APRN (Clinical Nurse Specialist): Current RN licensure, licensure as an APRN, and active certification as an Adult or Psychiatric Mental Health CNS by ANCC or AACNCC.

Skills or Special Abilities:

• Provides care according to Texas Nursing Practice Act or Medical Board Rules, established protocols, and standards.
• Demonstrates leadership, effective communication, and patient-centered behaviors.

Responsibilities:

1. Perform clinical duties, including histories, exams, assessments, and ordering tests.
2. Accurately document health history, findings, and care plans; manage time effectively; consult and refer as needed.
3. Include patients and families in care planning; educate for self-management.
4. Support interdisciplinary collaboration for quality care and patient satisfaction.
5. Stay updated with latest practice developments; participate in educational activities.
6. Maintain compliance with rules, regulations, and licensure; develop internal controls.
7. Identify and suggest improvements in work processes; provide quality customer service.
8. Assist in developing departmental goals; attend staff meetings.
