Stormont Vail HealthCare, Inc. seeks an Advanced Practice Provider to join the Pre-Admissions Testing clinic in Topeka. The role focuses on comprehensive preoperative evaluations, coordinating diagnostic testing, and collaboration with surgeons, anesthesiologists and primary care providers to optimize surgical readiness.

You will support perioperative safety, EMR documentation, and participate in PAT protocol improvements. KS PA/APRN licensure and relevant APP experience are required.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited PA/APRN program with KS licensure requirements.
  • Minimum 2 years APP experience in perioperative, internal medicine, anesthesia, or primary care.
  • Strong assessment and diagnostic reasoning skills; proficient EMR documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced setting.
  • Familiarity with Lean methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed preoperative assessments including history and physical exams.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic studies (labs, EKGs, imaging) as appropriate.
  • Identify and mitigate perioperative risks using evidence-based protocols.
  • Coordinate referrals with specialists as indicated.
  • Collaborate with anesthesia and surgical teams to ensure readiness for procedures.
  • Educate patients and families on preparation, expectations, and discharge planning.
  • Document findings and care plans in the EMR accurately and timely.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and standardized PAT protocols.

This provider conducts comprehensive preoperative evaluations, coordinates diagnostic testing, and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to ensure patients are medically prepared for surgery. The APP serves as a clinical liaison between patients, surgeons, anesthesiologists, and primary care providers to enhance perioperative safety, reduce surgical delays, and improve patient outcomes.Education QualificationsGraduate of an accredited PA/APRN program. Meets educational preparation or other qualifications within specified time frames as determined/outlined by specific department policy.
