Brown University Health in Providence, RI seeks an experienced Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to support electrophysiology services and the inpatient cardiology program. The role requires active Rhode Island prescriptive privileges and BLS/ACLS certification; prior cardiology experience is preferred.
The position involves hands-on patient care, device management, and collaboration with physicians and nursing staff in a hospital setting.
Reports directly to the manager for advanced practice providers and the inpatient medical director for clinical activities with a dotted line to the electrophysiology director. Robust collaboration with the clinical nurse manager, assistant clinical manager, and other procedural staff including nurses and technicians expected. text-align: justify Performs a variety of duties to encompass, but not limited to, the care and management of patients with electrophysiologic disturbances, in accordance with the Brown University Health and The Miriam Hospital's mission, vision, and values. All essential functions performed in this position reflect the age-specific needs of the patients.
Graduate of an accredited physician assistant or nurse practitioner program. Current Rhode Island nurse practitioner or physician assistant license that includes prescriptive privileges. Current Rhode Island DEA license required. Certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), or the Commission on the Accreditation of Physician Assistants to practice in the expanded role. Certification by the American Heart Association in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is required. Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients and families with consideration of aging processes, human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process.
Two years of clinical cardiology experience as a nurse practitioner or physician assistant is preferred. Must have patient care services, procedures, and privileges approved by the sponsoring physician.
Healthcare environment such as acute care hospital, physician office, and ancillary healthcare enterprises. Works with medical equipment and has direct patient contact. Any potential hazards are minimized by adherence to established safety procedures and precautions including the use of safety equipment and protective clothing.
