Job Description - Advanced Practice Provider, CVICU (861468)

Job Summary

Our growing Anesthesiology team at UT Southwestern is seeking an experienced Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide exceptional care in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) at Clements University Hospital (CUH) and Zale Lipshy Pavilion. This role involves a rotating 12-hour schedule, including days, nights, and weekends, with additional pay for night and weekend shifts. Candidates with a background in inpatient critical care or hospitalist medicine are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited master’s degree or higher Physician Assistant program (ARC-PA accredited) OR a master’s degree or higher in nursing with completion of an accredited Advanced Practice Education Program. Must have Texas Board of Nursing authorization relevant to clinical practice area.

Licensure and Certification requirements include:

  • Certification by NCCPA and licensure by the Texas Physician Assistant Board OR licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse by the Texas State Board of Nursing with prescriptive authority and Acute Care certification.
  • Current ACLS certification as per UT Southwestern policy.
Job Duties
  • Conduct comprehensive initial and ongoing physical examinations, including psychological assessments.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate patient care plans, utilizing diagnostic data and evidence-based practices.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in technical and procedural skills relevant to the specialty.
  • Provide management, referrals, counseling, and education to patients and families.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical research protocols.
  • Collaborate on research projects and apply evidence-based practices routinely.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Additional Information

This position is security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code 51.215, requiring the ability to maintain the security of critical infrastructure.
