SUMMARY:
The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) performs comprehensive assessments, diagnoses, orders, conducts, supervises, interprets diagnostic and laboratory tests, and prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatments for the management of acute and chronic illnesses in critically ill patients. The APP promotes health and injury prevention, practices autonomously and collaborates with other healthcare professionals to treat and manage patient health issues. The role includes direct patient and family care, consultation, research, advocacy for patients, families, groups, and communities to holistically address complex care needs. The APP serves as a member of the ICU team, primarily managing a caseload of critically ill patients under the supervision of the ICU supervising Physician.
