Job Description: Advanced Practice Provider (APP) - ICU

SUMMARY:

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) performs comprehensive assessments, diagnoses, orders, conducts, supervises, interprets diagnostic and laboratory tests, and prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatments for the management of acute and chronic illnesses in critically ill patients. The APP promotes health and injury prevention, practices autonomously and collaborates with other healthcare professionals to treat and manage patient health issues. The role includes direct patient and family care, consultation, research, advocacy for patients, families, groups, and communities to holistically address complex care needs. The APP serves as a member of the ICU team, primarily managing a caseload of critically ill patients under the supervision of the ICU supervising Physician.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing as an Advanced Practice Nurse or Master’s Degree as a Physician Assistant from the National Board of Medical Examiners or the Academy of Physician Assistants (Required)
  • Two (2) or more years of experience as a critical care nurse or two (2) years serving as a Physician Assistant
  • Current Georgia License as a Registered Professional Nurse (for NPs)
  • Current Georgia Authorization/Certification as an NP Advanced Practice Registered Nurse
  • Specialization in critical care services for in-patient settings as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications (Required)
