JOB SUMMARY

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) provides general and specialty medical and/or surgical services to individuals, families, and groups, emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention, as well as diagnosis and management of acute and chronic diseases. The APP will have opportunities to practice autonomously and collaboratively within their scope. All Tampa General Hospital team members are responsible for performing job duties in accordance with the mission, vision, and values of Tampa General Hospital.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Request, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic and laboratory tests, taking appropriate actions as medically indicated according to departmental protocols. Identify and report signs, symptoms, problems, or potential issues requiring further assessment, communication, or intervention to promote positive outcomes.
• Work autonomously and collaboratively to diagnose and manage patients' healthcare problems.

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

• Demonstrate current knowledge and expertise using evidence and theory-based practice, infection control standards, and clinical evaluations in providing care in clinic or hospital settings, following established protocols.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and electronic medical records (EMR), preferably Epic.
• Ability to multitask effectively in a dynamic environment.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Excellent customer service and conflict resolution skills.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Current licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant in Florida.
• Acute Care or Adult Gerontology Acute Care board certification AND Registered Nurse First Assist (RNFA) certification for APRNs.
• National certification required for PAs.
