Under the supervision and collaboration of Dr. Christopher Reb, DO , the Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) will assess, plan, and provide direct patient care in support of Dr. Reb’s orthopaedic foot and ankle practice. The APP will perform comprehensive patient evaluations, obtain and compile patient medical histories, conduct physical examinations, order and interpret appropriate diagnostic testing, develop treatment plans, and provide follow-up care for patients with injuries and conditions affecting the leg, ankle, foot, and toes.

This position requires an experienced provider who is comfortable working in a fast-paced orthopaedic practice and independently evaluating and managing patients while working directly with Dr. Reb and other members of the clinical team as appropriate. The APP will support the evaluation and treatment of foot and ankle conditions including trauma, arthritis, sports injuries, deformities, and other orthopaedic conditions.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited PA or APRN program
  • Current Florida state license as a PA or APRN
  • NCCPA certification (for PA) or national certification as an APRN
  • Previous clinical experience in orthopaedics, foot and ankle, musculoskeletal care, or a comparable clinical setting is strongly preferred
  • Experience supporting a surgical orthopaedic practice and/or providing pre-operative and post-operative patient care is preferred
  • BLS and ACLS certification required
  • Self-starter with excellent organizational and communication skills

Key Responsibilities

  • Obtaining detailed medical histories, performing comprehensive physical examinations, and providing direct patient care to patients within Dr. Reb’s practice.
  • Evaluating and treating orthopaedic injuries and conditions involving the leg, ankle, foot, and toes within the provider's scope of practice.
  • Supporting the evaluation and management of foot and ankle conditions, including trauma, arthritis, sports injuries, deformities, and other musculoskeletal conditions.
  • Ordering and interpreting appropriate diagnostic studies, including X-rays, imaging, and laboratory testing as clinically indicated.
  • Performing patient evaluations and initiating appropriate treatment plans in collaboration with Dr. Reb as needed.
  • Providing pre-operative and post-operative patient care, including patient education, follow-up evaluations, and coordination of the treatment plan.
  • Assisting with the ongoing management of surgical and non-surgical orthopaedic patients.
  • Applying and removing casts, splints, braces, and other forms of immobilization as appropriate.
  • Prescribing medications and therapeutic treatments in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and scope of practice.
  • Notifying Dr. Reb regarding unusual or unexpected events, significant changes in patient condition, or problems requiring direct physician consultation.
  • Writing and documenting progress notes indicating patient status, assessment, treatment, and procedures performed; maintaining other records as required.
  • Coordinating appropriate follow-up care with therapy, imaging, other FOI physicians or specialists, and additional clinical services.
  • Providing health education to patients and families, including treatment plans, medications, activity restrictions, rehabilitation, follow-up care, and return precautions.
  • Practicing appropriate safety, environmental, and infection control methods.
  • Collaborating with patient care and support staff to ensure efficient patient flow and delivery of high‑quality care.
  • Enhancing professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in‑service meetings, and workshops.
  • May participate in clinical research as appropriate.
  • Performs miscellaneous job‑related duties as assigned.

Schedule

Schedule and clinic coverage based on Dr. Reb’s practice and patient care needs

May require coverage at Gainesville and/or Ocala locations based on practice needs

Licensure & Certification

  • Current and unrestricted Florida license as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant, or ability to obtain prior to start date.
  • Current national certification applicable to the provider's discipline.
  • Physician Assistants must meet applicable NCCPA certification requirements.
  • Nurse Practitioners must maintain applicable national board certification.
  • Current BLS certification required.
  • DEA registration required or ability to obtain as applicable to the position.
  • Must meet all applicable credentialing and privilege requirements.
