Job summary

SSM Health-SLUCare is seeking an experienced advanced practice provider to join our cardiac surgery stepdown unit. This inpatient position supports Saint Louis University’s academic medical practice in an environment focused on cutting-edge care and research.

The role involves caring for patients transitioning from the Cardiac Surgery ICU to the step-down setting, performing assessments, developing care plans for new consults, and participating in rounds, discharge planning, and wound care.

Qualifications

• Cardiac surgery experience preferred.
• New graduate PAs with clinical experience in cardiac surgery welcome.
• Acute care certification or PA certification for the role.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical care to patients transitioning from the Cardiac Surgery ICU to the step-down setting and develop plans of care for new consults.
• Perform detailed assessments, monitor cardiac status, manage pre- and post-operative care, and participate in multi-disciplinary rounds and discharge planning.
• Care coordination, wound care, and removal of chest tubes/pacing wires as part of postoperative care.

Cardiac Stepdown Unit - SSM Health SLUCare - Full-Time

SSM Health-SLUCare is seeking an experienced advanced practice provider to join our growing service line. SLUCare represents theacademic medical practice of Saint Louis University, known for leading-edge care and groundbreaking research. This inpatient position will work in the cardiac surgery stepdown unit.

Job Highlights:

• Provide clinical care to patients transitioning from the Cardiac Surgery ICU to the step-down setting; evaluate and develop plan of care for new patient consults.


• Perform detailed assessments, monitor/evaluate cardiac status, manage patient through the pre-post-op period, initiate/refine medical management, participate in multi-disciplinary rounds, care coordination, discharge planning and education, chest tube/pacing wire removal, wound care.


• Anticipate (3) 12–13-hour shifts per week with weekend rotation of 1:5 and holiday rotation.


• No Call/No Nights.

Qualifications:

• Cardiac Surgery experience preferred
