Advanced Practice Provider (APP)

Willamette Valley Cancer Institute and Research Center – the largest private practice cancer care center in Central Oregon – is looking to add an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to their clinic in Eugene, OR. The APP will support our Med Onc Department in seeing patients, treatment education, and other general support to maintain the high level of care our community is accustomed to. While oncology experience is preferred, a heart of service and a desire to continue our mission will help you find success.

Salary Range: $90,579 – $226,086 (dependent on experience, education, and performance). Base salary plus eligibility for a productivity bonus of up to $18,000 annually.

Responsibilities
  • Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates care for individual patients.
  • Initiates and documents appropriate interventions; evaluates and records patient/family response within practice protocol; prescribes drug therapies per protocol/physician consultation.
  • Assists physicians and performs procedures as needed; conducts patient assessments and provides physician with information prior to seeing the patient.
  • Assesses patient/family needs and provides education.
  • Promotes wellness and recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs.
  • Promotes/provides staff education.
  • Incorporates evidence‑based research into clinical practice.
  • Knowledgeable of reimbursement procedures and documentation requirements.
  • Completes patient charge tickets.
  • Provides case management for oncology clients and their families.
  • Serves as a resource person for the nursing staff by providing information being studied in clinical trials.
  • May supervise the activities of clinical nursing and support staff.
  • May mentor new mid‑level providers.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

For Nurse Practitioner: Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited nursing school and successful completion of a Nurse Practitioner program. Minimum 0‑3 years post‑MSN experience, preferably in the chosen specialty. RN state licensure, current registration with the State Board of Nursing, and current basic life support (BLS)/CPR certification required.

For Physician Assistant: Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program. Current NCCPA certification. Minimum 0‑3 years of experience as a practicing Physician Assistant, preferably in the chosen specialty. Current state license as a Physician Assistant and current BLS/CPR certification required.

For Clinical Nurse Specialist: Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited nursing school and successful completion of a Clinical Nurse Specialist program. Minimum 0‑3 years post‑MSN experience, preferably in the chosen specialty. RN state licensure, current registration with the State Board of Nursing, current state licensure as a Clinical Nurse Specialist, and current basic life support (BLS)/CPR certification required.

Physical Demands

Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, eye‑hand coordination, standing and walking for extensive periods, and occasional lifting of items up to 40 lbs. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

Work Environment

Exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medical preparations, and other conditions common to an oncology/hematology clinic environment.
