Qualifications

• Completion of formal phlebotomy or related medical program.
• Minimum of 5 years experience in phlebotomy.
• Advanced knowledge of venipuncture, capillary puncture and specimen handling.
• Proficiency with LIS and specimen labeling requirements.
• Ability to perform testing prep and meet QA standards.
• Strong communication and teamwork in a fast-paced ER.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and capillary puncture in the ER setting.
• Assess vein size and placement for vascular access at an advanced level.
• Process, label and handle specimens for lab analysis and shipping.
• Enter orders into the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
• Prepare specimens for automated testing and report results.
• Maintain quality control records and comply with policies.
