Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University Health Systems is seeking a Certified Pharmacy Technician III to assist pharmacists in preparing, dispensing, and managing medications for diverse patient populations. The role spans automation, compounding, inventory, and clinical support within a fast-paced hospital setting.

Required are PTCB/ExCPT certification and Virginia Board licensure, with a minimum of three years’ pharmacy experience and a high school diploma.

Qualifications

• Current certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) OR valid ExCPT certification provided by the National Health Career Association
• Current licensure with the Virginia State Board of Pharmacy
• A clean criminal record (no felony; no drug/pharmacy related convictions; no denial or suspension of licensure)
• Three years of pharmacy practice experience
• High school diploma or equivalent

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate competency in CPhT I and II responsibilities
• Exhibit expert-level mastery within a specialized area of pharmacy (automation, compounding, controlled substances, inventory, investigational services, pediatrics)
• Maintain organization and order within the specialized area
• Identify equipment or operational problems and escalate to leadership as necessary
• Serve as a designated trainer to team members and students in the specialized area
• Serve as a role model for Safety, Teamwork, Accountability, Relationships, and Service (STARS)
