Job summary

VCU Health in Richmond, VA, is seeking a Certified Pharmacy Technician to assist pharmacists with preparation, dispensing, record keeping and transport of medications across patient groups from neonatal to geriatric. Under minimal supervision, you will perform technician duties at a high level of proficiency.

The role requires Virginia Board of Pharmacy registration and PTCB or ExCPT certification within 6 months of employment.

Qualifications

• Virginia Board of Pharmacy registration is required.
• Pharmacy Technician certification from the PTCB or ExCPT is required within 6 months of employment.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of pharmacy practice experience in a similar setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs tasks designated by the pharmacist to assist in patient care that do not legally require a pharmacist's supervision or verification.
• Communicates effectively with all staff members.
• Identifies equipment or operational problems and reports them to a pharmacist or pharmacy manager.
• Interacts with other health care practitioners in a multidisciplinary environment.
• Aids in preparation, dispensing, record keeping, and transporting of medications for patients across all age groups.
