Job summary

The S.C. Department of Public Health is seeking qualified laboratory personnel to perform highly complex newborn screening testing using a variety of methodologies in a state laboratory setting.

Preferred candidates include MLS/MT with ASCP certification and one year of clinical laboratory experience, or MLT with ASCP certification and one year of experience. The role emphasizes quality assurance, teamwork, and accurate result reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related medical or scientific discipline.
• Associate degree or equivalent training with journey-level work experience.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered with approval.

Responsibilities

• Perform highly complex newborn screening laboratory testing using Iso-electric focusing, HPLC, tandem Mass Spectrometry, PCR, and automated analyzers; troubleshoot as needed.
• Perform quality control and review QC results for acceptability per protocol.
• Prepare reagents, review and report patient test results; communicate abnormal results per procedures; work independently or in a team; participate in QA activities.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
