• Level III training and competency in Echocardiography
• Level III training in advanced multimodality cardiovascular imaging (Cardiac CT/MRI)
• Eligibility for or achievement of NBE, SCCT Level III, or SCMR Level III certifications

Responsibilities

• Clinical responsibilities total 0.90 FTE focusing on multimodality cardiovascular imaging and outpatient cardiology practice.
• Provide advanced cardiovascular imaging services (echo, CT, MRI) at Baylor St. Luke's and BCM locations.
• Dedicate ~4 imaging days per week; 1 day in Echocardiography Lab and 3 days in Advanced Cardiac Imaging.
• Interpret and supervise TTE/TEE/stress echo, CT and MRI studies; support inpatient and outpatient imaging services.
• Engage in teaching (fellows, residents, students, APPs), research, and institutional committees.

Summary

The Department of Medicine, Section of Cardiology at Baylor College of Medicine seeks a board-certified/board-eligible Cardiologist with advanced training and expertise in multimodality cardiovascular imaging. This full-time faculty position is responsible for providing comprehensive cardiovascular imaging services at Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center and Baylor College of Medicine ambulatory practice locations.

The successful candidate will contribute to the growth and advancement of the cardiovascular imaging program through the interpretation of advanced cardiac imaging studies, direct patient care, multidisciplinary collaboration, educational activities, and administrative responsibilities. Clinical duties will primarily focus on echocardiography, cardiac computed tomography (CT), and cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

Job Duties

Clinical Responsibilities – 0.90 FTE

• The physician will devote approximately ninety percent (90%) effort to direct clinical activities, including multimodality cardiovascular imaging and outpatient cardiology practice.
• Multimodality Cardiac Imaging
• Provide advanced cardiovascular imaging services at Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center and affiliated Baylor College of Medicine practice locations.
• Dedicate four (4) clinical days per week to multimodality cardiovascular imaging, including echocardiography, cardiac computed tomography (CT), and cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
• The anticipated distribution of imaging responsibilities includes approximately:
• One (1) day per week in the Echocardiography Laboratory.
• Three (3) days per week in Advanced Cardiac Imaging (Cardiac CT and/or Cardiac MRI).
• Interpret and supervise transthoracic echocardiograms (TTE), transesophageal echocardiograms (TEE), stress echocardiograms, cardiac CT, and cardiac MRI studies.
• Support both inpatient and outpatient imaging services and provide coverage across imaging modalities as needed.
• Imaging assignments may be adjusted based on departmental priorities, patient volumes, service coverage requirements, and the physician's qualifications and expertise in cardiac CT, cardiac MRI, or both modalities.
• Participate in outpatient cardiovascular clinics and provide outpatient and inpatient consultations and follow-up care consistent with programmatic needs.

Administrative Responsibilities – 0.1 FTE

• Teach and mentor cardiology fellows, residents, medical students, and advanced practice providers.
• Participate in clinical research, scholarly activities, and institutional committees.
• Support departmental and institutional initiatives aligned with the academic mission of Baylor College of Medicine.

While the anticipated allocation is approximately one day of echocardiography and three days of advanced imaging weekly, the distribution of imaging responsibilities may be adjusted based on patient volume, service coverage needs, institutional priorities, and the candidate's specific expertise in cardiac CT, cardiac MRI, or both modalities.

Minimum Qualifications

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution
• Completion of an ACGME-accredited Internal Medicine Residency
• Completion of an ACGME-accredited Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship
• Completion of advanced fellowship training in Cardiovascular Imaging, including Echocardiography, Cardiac CT and/or Cardiac MRI, or a closely related discipline
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Cardiovascular Disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM)
• Eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in the State of Texas
• Level III training and competency in Echocardiography
• Level III training and competency in advanced multimodality cardiovascular imaging (including Cardiac CT, Cardiac MRI, or both)
• Eligibility for or achievement of certification through:
• National Board of Echocardiography (NBE)
• Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (SCCT) Level III training standards, and/or
• Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (SCMR) Level III training standards

Preferred Qualifications

• Board Certification in Cardiovascular Disease
• Level III expertise in both Cardiac CT and Cardiac MRI
• Academic experience involving teaching, clinical research, or program development
• Experience supporting hospital-based and ambulatory cardiovascular imaging services
