Job summary

Corning is seeking a Machine Learning Modeling Engineer in Corning, NY to develop advanced ML, DL, and generative AI solutions for product design and process optimization. You will provide data analytics, modeling, and software support to strengthen Corning’s competitive edge.

You will collaborate with scientists and engineers to define requirements, prepare data, build and test models, interpret results, and communicate findings.

Qualifications

• MS or PhD in engineering, CS, math or stats with ML specialization.
• Background in physics, chemistry or engineering.
• Experience preparing data for ML and performing EDA.
• Deep knowledge of ML techniques including DL, CNNs, RNNs, generative models, RL.
• Experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Familiarity with generative AI tools/frameworks.
• Strong Python programming skills.
• Comfortable in Windows/Linux and Databricks.
• Strong communication with scientists and engineers.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Develop ML, DL, and generative AI models for research and product development.
• Partner with scientists and engineers to define analytics needs.
• Prepare data and build/validate ML models across development stages.
• Interpret results and communicate findings to stakeholders.
• Support software and computational modeling for data analytics.
• Explore new AI/ML technologies to expand Corning's capabilities.
• Write docs, provide training, mentor new engineers.
• Collaborate across teams to deliver scalable analytics solutions.
