Job summary

The Advanced Medical Support Assistant positions fall under various health care service lines within VA Maine Healthcare System. Most shifts are scheduled during the day but some shifts could be evenings - nights - and include weekends/holidays. MSAs may work tours other than their regular scheduled tour.

Shift changes will be based on patient and facility needs. These positions serve as Medical Support Assistants (Advanced) for the VA Maine Healthcare System and provide administrative support

Qualifications

• Citizenship: U.S. citizen required.
• Non-citizens may be appointed when qualified citizens are unavailable.
• Education: High school diploma or GED.
• English proficiency: must be proficient in spoken and written English.

Responsibilities

• Support clinics with clinic profile management.
• Collect insurance information from Veterans and families.
• Pre-register Veterans during check-in and call Veterans before visits.
• Enter patient demographics and update data in VISTA.
• Promote MyHealthyVet and kiosks usage.
• Coordinate referrals and scheduling across care settings.
