The US Department of Veterans Affairs in Indianapolis seeks an Advanced Medical Support Assistant for the Business Office (HAS) to support Primary Care. This role provides crucial administrative guidance to physicians, PAs, nurses, and other clinical staff, helping ensure timely access and smooth patient flow.
Responsibilities include coordinating scheduling, maintaining health care portals, processing referrals, and preparing reports.
This position is located in the Business Office (HAS) but will provide service to Primary Care. The Advanced Medical Support Assistant is a key member of the Patient Care Team providing crucial administrative advice and guidance. Responsible for performing a variety of technical support duties that facilitate the work of physicians, physician assistants, nurses, nursing assistants, and other members of the medical facility who provide direct patient care.

High school diploma, General Education Development equivalency certificate, or proficiency certificate from a State or territorial-level Board or Department of Education.

Candidates must be proficient in spoken and written English in accordance with 38 U.S.C. § 7403(f).
In addition to the basic requirements for employment, candidates must meet the following grade-determining criteria for placement at grade levels specified.
Applicant must possess at least one year experience at or equivalent to work at the next lower grade of the GS5.

The full performance level of this vacancy is GS-06. The actual grade at which an applicant may be selected for this vacancy is at the GS-6.
