Leidos is seeking a Material Scientist - Electroslag Remelting to join our team in Albany, OR for onsite R&D supporting the NETL facility. You will work on development of novel slags containing rare earth byproducts for ESR of steels and nickel-based superalloys, applying advanced microstructure characterization and computational design.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree with 6+ years of related experience or PhD with 4+ years.
• Experience characterizing microstructures using advanced techniques (SEM/EDS/EBSD/EPMA).
• Ability to produce technical reports and present at conferences.
• Experience with data analysis related to microstructure-chemistry-property relationships.
• Knowledge of nickel and iron-based alloy microstructure-property relationships.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a multi-disciplinary team.
• Must meet NETL campus access requirements.

Responsabilités

• Characterization using advanced microscopy techniques (SEM, EDS, EBSD, EPMA).
• Computational design and characterization of novel slags containing rare earth element byproducts for ESR.
• Evaluate slag compositions from computational results.
• Write technical reports outlining lab findings.
