Job summary

Certain Affinity, Inc. is seeking an Advanced Material Artist to create physically based materials for props, environments, and characters.

You will work with a small team to maintain material libraries, set up shaders, and integrate assets into a vivid game world. The role requires shipped AAA title experience, a strong portfolio, and deep knowledge of Unreal Engine 5, Substance Designer, and Substance Painter.

Qualifications

• Portfolio demonstrating a wide variety of materials with strong attention to believability and composition.
• Shipped 2+ AAA titles as a material artist.
• Solid understanding of PBR standards and surface/light interactions.

Responsibilities

• Create physically based materials/textures for props, environments, and characters with minimal oversight.
• Assist in master material creation in Unreal and maintain material pipelines.
• Collaborate with artists to integrate assets into a cohesive world.
• Match established art styles while improving visual direction.
• Mentor junior artists on technique and process.
• Help streamline material creation workflows in Substance Designer.
