Position Overview

The Advanced Manufacturing Engineer – Program Lead will spearhead automation projects from conception through implementation across JBPCO's manufacturing sites. Responsibilities include identifying automation opportunities, developing concepts, coordinating vendor selection, validating designs, ensuring compliance with JBPCO standards, and launching solutions at various plants. The role involves managing multiple projects simultaneously across North America, ranging from welding chassis frames to general assembly.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead manufacturing initiatives focused on process improvements via automation to enhance safety, quality, cost, and throughput.
  • Manage the entire automation project lifecycle, collaborating with internal teams and external system integrators.
  • Define and improve business processes supporting manufacturing transformation and automation.
  • Collaborate across departments and levels to ensure project success.
  • Coordinate with design and planning teams on product and tooling design for efficient production.
  • Develop equipment specifications, negotiate purchases, and evaluate equipment quality.
  • Work with business units on production planning and costs.
  • Ensure adherence to quality and safety policies, including industry standards such as RIA, ANSI, ISO, IEEE, and NFPA.
  • Lead workshops to define project scope and develop cost estimates.
  • Utilize project management tools to control budgets, timelines, and resources.
  • Lead design reviews, validation, FAT, and SAT with suppliers.
  • Train manufacturing staff on automation systems and safety standards.
  • Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices across the organization.
  • Stay informed on emerging manufacturing technologies like Industry 4.0, robotics, and additive manufacturing.
Qualifications
  • Proven project leadership experience, especially in transforming manual manufacturing to automation.
  • Experience with automation technologies and vendors.
  • Background in high-volume or high-mix manufacturing environments.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing design, processes, and regulatory standards.
  • Excellent aptitude in automation, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Educational background: BSME, BSIE, BSEE or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 10 years related experience, with at least 5 in project leadership.
  • Preferred certifications: PE, Lean Six Sigma, PMP.
Travel Requirements
  • 60-75% travel expected.
  • Valid driver’s license and passport required.
