Job summary

Allison Transmission in Indianapolis, IN is seeking an Associate Manufacturing Engineer to develop and implement optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes in line with product specifications and quality standards. You will design and test tooling and equipment and plan manufacturing processes in designated areas of the plant.

You will lead improvements to production methods, coordinate manufacturing launches for new or revised products, and ensure process quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
• High analytical ability to solve complex problems.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of tooling, manufacturing process, and manufacturing equipment.
• High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others.
• Understanding of machine and manufacturing processes.
• Working knowledge of CNC Programming.
• Minimum 1 year of experience required.
• Experience with part processing using grinding and machining center equipment (preferred).
• Direct manufacturing experience with rotating/reciprocating components, gears, or prismatic parts (preferred).
• CNC programming with strong control systems knowledge (preferred).
• Project management related to machine procurement, cost analysis and process validation (preferred).
• Experience with Unigraphics and other CAD programs (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Assist in development of manufacturing systems focusing on quality and throughput of production equipment and processes.
• Operate within established practices with supervision available for unusual situations.
• Direct the design, development, and improvement of manufacturing processes and equipment.
• Study product requirements, researching and designing manufacturing methods and equipment.
• Ensure product and process quality.
• Provide instruction and assign work to a small group of employees as needed.
• Provide technical support for specific plant operations.
• Be physically present in the workplace as an essential function.
• Support plant and corporate safety policies and initiatives.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
