Job summary

AkzoNobel in Houston seeks a Maintenance Technician to maintain manufacturing and packaging equipment and facility infrastructure. You will diagnose mechanical and electrical issues, perform preventive maintenance, and support continuous improvement to maximize uptime and on-time delivery.

The role requires an associate degree or equivalent maintenance background, PLC troubleshooting, and strong documentation.

Qualifications

Associate degree in engineering or vocational training with 5–10 years of maintenance experience.
Ability to repair electrical and mechanical processing equipment and troubleshoot PLCs.
Ability to read P&ID, wiring, hydraulic and pneumatic diagrams and use tools safely.
Able to lift up to 55 pounds, stand/walk, and work in varying conditions.
Valid driver’s license and overtime flexibility.

Responsibilities

Plan and prioritize PMs using CMMS; record all work to support the system.
Diagnose and repair mechanical problems; verify operation after repairs; assist with installations.
Perform preventive/predictive maintenance; inspect, test, and report findings to Maintenance Manager.
Assist with inventory management and keep storerooms/shops clean.
Follow HSE policies; attend safety meetings; report unsafe conditions.
Coordinate with external contractors to complete work and issue permits.
Provide after-hours on-call support; rotate weekends as needed.
Operate ladders, hoists, industrial trucks and PPE as required.
Wear breathing apparatus and other PPE when mandated.
