Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking an experienced Paramedic to provide Advanced Life Support (ALS) services in alignment with New Jersey guidelines. The role involves rapid response, trauma and medical assessment, and safe patient transport across Middlesex, Monmouth, Ocean, and Union Counties.

You will collaborate with police, fire, and other emergency providers, ensuring high-quality documentation and patient handoff.

Responsibilities

• Responds to calls in a timely manner.
• Assists and supports public safety personnel and other healthcare providers during patient care.
• Performs assessments and uses critical thinking to identify condition and treatment.
• Identifies patient needs and delivers care tailored to age, culture, language, hearing/vision needs.
• Obtains essential data from patient and family; conducts thorough physical exams and updates medical control.
• Keeps patient comfortable during transport in all weather conditions.
• Operates emergency vehicles safely following policies and traffic rules.
• Performs daily vehicle and equipment checks; maintains fuel and fluids.
• Maintains vehicle interior and cleans as needed; handles vehicle/equipment maintenance.
• Uses wireless devices for dispatch acknowledgments and medical control contact.
• Participates in QA programs to evaluate care quality and trends.
• Provides complete verbal handoff when transferring care.
• Documents patient contact according to policy and regulations; rotates documentation with partners.
• Maintains accurate records of controlled substances per policy.
