Job summary

Tekni-Plex, Inc. in Van Wert, Ohio, is seeking an Advanced Industrial Maintenance Technician to run, troubleshoot, and repair automated industrial robot and electromechanical equipment.

Qualifications

  • Electrical troubleshooting with PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, sensors and motors.
  • Mechanical troubleshooting of pumps, motors, and tooling assemblies.
  • Stand for long shifts, lift up to 50 lbs, work in an industrial environment.
  • HS diploma or equivalent; certification/degree in robotics/automation preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Safety: verify gates, light curtains, E-stops and follow LOTO procedures.
  • Tooling installation & maintenance: install molds, repair threads, polish edges, install screens.
  • Preventative & corrective maintenance: help define routine servicing for robotic equipment.
  • Troubleshooting & diagnostic: diagnose mechanical, pneumatic, electrical failures up to 480V with meters/schematics.
  • Documentation: maintain maintenance logs and spare parts inventory in ERP system.
  • Programming & calibration: adjust robot movements and PLC logic for Fanuc and Schneider systems.

Description

SUMMARY

Responsible for running, troubleshooting, and repairing automated industrial robot and electromechanical machinery. The role requires performing scheduled preventive maintenance and emergency diagnostics to minimize production downtime, blending mechanical, electrical, and software skill sets.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Safety: Verify that safety gates, light curtains, and emergency stops operate correctly. Follow appropriate Lock-Out-Tag-Out procedures when working on equipment.
  • Tooling Installation & Maintenance: Remove and install machine molds as needed by the operations and engineering teams. Make repairs such as re-tapping damaged threads, filing edges, polishing, and installing screens.
  • Preventative & Corrective Maintenance: Help define routine servicing schedule and program for first-of-kind robotic manufacturing equipment.
  • Troubleshooting & Diagnostic: Diagnose mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical failures (up to 480V) using multimeters, schematics, and error codes.
  • Documentation: Maintain maintenance logs and spare parts inventory in Asset Essentials ERP System.
  • Programming & Calibration: Adjust, backup, or modify robot movement paths, positions, and logic of Fanuc Robots and Schneider PLC.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

  • Electrical Troubleshooting: Knowledge of PLC’s, HMI’s, VFD’s, servo motors, and sensors and how they work together. Robot-specific training or experience is a benefit but not required.
  • Mechanical Troubleshooting: Knowledge of pumps, motors, and tooling assembly. Must be able to use manual vertical mill (Bridgeport style) and lathe.
  • Physical & Environmental: Ability to stand for long shifts, lift heavy parts up to 50 lbs, and work in industrial manufacturing environments. Willing to run machines to verify correct operation.
  • Education & Experience: HS Diploma or equivalent. Technical certification, associate degree in robotics/automation, or 2-5 years of hands-on industrial maintenance experience. Must demonstrate high attention to detail.
