Job summary

The Jack C. Montgomery VA Medical Center in Muskogee, OK is seeking an Advanced Histopathology Technician within the Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Department.

The incumbent will perform complex histological procedures, immunohistochemistry and tissue processing, and provide technical oversight as part of a healthcare team. Qualified applicants will have education in biological sciences or chemistry and/or histopathology training, plus experience meeting VA requirements.

Qualifications

• One year of health care experience or education related to histopathology
• Knowledge of anatomic pathology principles is preferred
• Ability to perform complex staining and tissue processing procedures

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced histological, histochemical and immunohistochemical procedures
• Develop, modify, or adapt staining methods to improve routine procedures
• Troubleshoot laboratory instruments and resolve technical issues
• Maintain documentation and ensure quality control in all procedures
