Job summary

City of Laredo seeks a Heavy Equipment Operator to perform rough excavation, grading, and finishing to a prescribed grade on City projects. You will inspect equipment, perform basic maintenance, and operate various machines such as backhoe, bulldozer, loader, scraper, and excavator on outdoor construction sites.

Requirements include at least 3 years of heavy equipment experience and a valid Texas Driver License; out-of-state licenses must be converted within 6 months.

Qualifications

• At least three (3) years of experience as a heavy equipment operator.
• Valid Texas Driver License; out-of-state licenses must be converted within 6 months.
• Must pass background check and drug/alcohol testing.

Responsibilities

• Conducts pre-operation inspections and reports problems to supervisor.
• Performs basic maintenance on equipment and tools.
• Operates heavy equipment to perform excavation, grading, finishing tasks.
• Assists in directing traffic and other duties as needed.
