Qualifications

• Successful completion of a medical assistant program accredited by the CAAHP or ABHES.
• CMA or RMA certification must be obtained within the first year of employment and maintained thereafter.
• Clinic/physician office experience preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within three months of hire.
• Mandatory Reporter training completion within three months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Recognizes urgent/emergent needs of patients and initiates appropriate emergency procedures.
• Maintains and documents patient information in the electronic medical record.
• Assists with procedures and operation of diagnostic equipment (e.g., EKG, spirometry, tympanometry).
• Facilitates interdisciplinary communication and conveys information to patients and families.
• Maintains aseptic technique for procedures and prepares medications as directed.
• Records patient interactions accurately and communicates results to the health care team.
