Job summary

Old to Gold in West Michigan seeks an Advanced Apprentice for hardwood floor projects. You’ll own prep, sanding and finish steps on a Lead-owned job, with paid training and a clear path toward Technician.

Responsibilities include doorways sealed, vacuuming between coats, and executing installations per the Lead’s layouts. Expect a 7:00 AM start, 40–50 hours weekly, and commission-based pay with company van support.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience sanding, finishing or installing wood floors.
• Valid driver's license before your first day.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Able to lift heavy objects and work long periods.

Responsibilities

• Own prep, furniture moves, masking, and dust containment on assigned areas.
• Run sanding using drum, edger, and sanders with supervision; blend to final grit.
• Manage between-coat cleaning and final vacuuming to ensure quality finish.
• Perform installations and layouts as directed by the Lead.
• Identify and fix finishing issues; keep company van stocked and maintained.
• Mentor a Beginner Apprentice when requested by the Lead.
