Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent with experience in fire suppression, rescue, EMS or related fields.
• EMT-Basic certification required; Firefighter I preferred at hire, Firefighter II within 1 year.
• Pro Board or Virginia certification equivalencies may apply; valid Virginia driver's license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Respond to emergency calls and provide basic and advanced life support according to protocols.
• Perform fire suppression, rescue, and first response duties at incidents.
• Assist in hazardous materials identification, containment, and decontamination.
• Participate in training and drills to maintain fitness and skills.
• Operate fire and medical apparatus and ensure equipment is ready for use.
• Perform station duties and participate in community safety activities.
• Provide public safety education, station tours, and presentations to groups.
