Job summary

Fox Valley Fire & Safety is seeking a Fire Alarm Test & Inspect Technician II to perform routine testing and inspection of fire alarm systems at customer sites in the Elgin area. This role requires meticulous documentation and effective communication with customers and staff.

The position is full-time and non-exempt, with early start times common. NICET I certification is preferred, along with 3–5 years of relevant experience and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• Must have 3–5 years of fire alarm testing/inspection experience.
• NICET I in Fire Alarm Systems preferred or obtainable within 12 months.
• High School Diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Perform testing and inspection of fire alarm systems to verify operation and code compliance.
• Document inspection results, deficiencies, and recommendations clearly.
• Communicate findings with building owners, managers, and staff.
• Assist with minor repairs, device replacements, and troubleshooting as directed.
• Maintain tools, testing equipment, and company vehicle.
• Follow safety procedures and NFPA/OSHA/local codes.
