Job summary

Vail Resorts in South Lake Tahoe, CA is hiring for the winter season as Equipment Operators within the Mt. Ops team. You will operate diverse equipment, perform maintenance tasks, and troubleshoot issues to keep mountain operations running smoothly.

Minimum 1 year of heavy equipment experience is required, along with a Class A/B CDL and a valid driver's license. This is a Winter Seasonal 2026/2027 role with full-time hours and housing available.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of heavy equipment experience.
• Must be fluent in English.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Operate all equipment used by the Mt. Ops team.
• Monitor equipment and address issues promptly with Vehicle Maintenance.
• Perform general maintenance and sign repairs as needed.
• Troubleshoot equipment problems and work with the team.

The Experienced Equipment Operator will operate a variety of equipment, trucks and tractors for the purpose of street and utility repair, maintenance, and construction of facilities.

Job Specifications:

Starting Wage: $27.00/hr - $38.27/hr

Employment Type: Winter Seasonal 2026/2027

Shift Type: Full Time hours available

Minimum Age: At least 18 years of age

Job Responsibilities:

Operate all equipment used by the Mt. Ops team

Monitor all equipment and make sure that all issues are addressed promptly and communicated with Vehicle Maintenance.

Physical Labor will be required due to the broad scope of the jobs that will be done for the resort. Responsible for all aspects of Mountain operations.

Maintenance of signs and repairs and general maintenance.

Able to take directions and work as part of a team

Accurately troubleshoot equipment problems.

Job Requirements:

At least 1-year heavy equipment experience

High school diploma or equivalent

Must be able to communicate fluently in English

Valid driver's license and clean driving record

Class A or B CDL License is required for this position

Able to lift & carry up to 50 lbs.

Able to work extended hours outdoors in an alpine environment

The expected pay range is$27.00/hr - $38.27/hr. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
