Job summary

Orlando Health is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant for its Endoscopy/GI team in Florida. The role involves assisting the endoscopist during advanced procedures and preparing procedural suites.

Responsibilities include setting up cautery, mixing agents, operating AV equipment, and providing direct patient care in OR/ICU/ER settings. Availability for after-hours and weekend coverage is required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED; Associate degree in Biological/medical field preferred; Medical Assistant Certificate preferred.
• 3-5 years related work experience required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology; ability to operate technical/electronic equipment with accuracy.
• Maintain current BLS/Healthcare Provider Certification.

Responsibilities

• Assists the endoscopist during complex procedures such as ERCP, EUS, EMR, ESD, hemostasis and other advanced endoscopic steps.
• Sets up cautery settings for interventional endoscopic procedures.
• Mixes agents (saline, dye, cyanoacrylate) in correct proportions for endoscopic work.
• Provides endoscopic support for emergencies in OR, ICU and ER settings.
• Operates AV equipment for recording teaching cases; assists with research and development of novel products.
• Be available for emergency call coverage after 5 PM and on weekends.
• Labels and sends specimens to proper department/location per policy.
• Prepares procedural suites and ensures equipment and supplies are ready for cases.
• Transports and delivers items, equipment and medications throughout the facility.
• Provides direct care to patients under supervision, including nourishment and vital signs checks.
