The Emergency Department Technician at the Medical University of South Carolina provides compassionate, hands-on patient care in a high‑pace ED setting under RN supervision. You’ll assist with mobility, vital signs, and daily needs, ensuring patient dignity and safety while supporting the care team.

You will perform ED support duties, transport patients, monitor basics, and communicate clearly with patients and families, nurses, and physicians. AEMT/Paramedic credentials and BLS are required.

Qualificações

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience with EKG, Phlebotomy, and Cardiac Monitoring preferred.
• Current South Carolina Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) or Paramedic is required.
• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Responsabilidades

• Provide compassionate, hands-on care to patients within the scope of your training and certification.
• Assist patients with personal hygiene, dressing, walking, and other activities of daily living.
• Help maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable patient environment.
• Change bed linens and assist with patient transportation to tests and procedures.
• Serve and collect meal trays and provide between-meal nourishment as needed.
• Obtain and record temperatures and vital signs under the direction of a nurse.
• Support nurses and the emergency care team with a variety of patient care activities.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, nurses, providers, and other members of the healthcare team.
• Provide compassionate care while maintaining patient dignity, privacy, and safety.
