Job summary

MUSC Lancaster Medical Center is seeking an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician to join a fast-paced Emergency Room team. You will assist in patient care under RN supervision, focusing on EKG, phlebotomy, and cardiac monitoring while supporting the ED staff.

This PRN, hourly role requires SC EMT licensure, BLS, and preferred AEMT. Flexible shifts, weekend/evening options, and a collaborative team environment are offered.

Qualifications

• EMT license required; AEMT preferred.
• Current BLS certification from American Heart Association required; ACLS, PALS and NIHSS may be required if unit mandates.
• High School diploma or GED required, with preferred EMT-related coursework or training.

Responsibilities

• Provide care to Emergency Department patients under RN supervision.
• Assist with EKGs, phlebotomy, patient monitoring and routine ED tasks.
• Perform additional duties as assigned within scope of training and certification.

Job Description

The Advanced Emergency Medical Technician performs duties of the Emergency Department Technician and other routine duties within the limit of their training and certification in caring for the Emergency Department patients. The care is rendered under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Additional responsibilities may be required.

Experience

Previous experience with EKG, Phlebotomy, and Cardiac Monitoring preferred.

Education

High School Degree or GED required

License/Certification

South Carolina Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) required. Advance Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) preferred. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) required. Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) with American Heart Association (AHA), and NIHSS stroke scale with American Heart Association (AHA) if unit required
